Hrusice House

Location: Hrusice

“During the discussions on the proposal for minor modifications, it was finally decided to completely rebuild the house so that it would naturally fit into the surroundings. Following the folk architecture that inspired the authors of the design, the main concept of the reconstruction was simplicity and even ordinaryness of the building. In the paintings of Josef Lada, who came from Hrusice, we see houses with a wooden gable, a simple floor plan, and a thatched or red gable roof. Folk architecture has always done without aesthetic elements that would go beyond the functional requirements. As in our case, local sources were mostly used for construction. Such a house, which would also meet current ideas about modern year-round living in the village, ultimately emerged from the design.”
