Prachatice Summer Cinema
Localities: Prachatice, Czech Republic
"The system of reels guiding the film in the projector freely rewrites the design into the form of simple objects, between which the reels direct the ropes of the roof instead of the film strip. The tarpaulin of the roof, subtle steel structures and corrugated sheet metal create the impression of light, seemingly temporary, “summer” objects. The corrugated sheet metal is also another reference to the cinematic illusion created by the rhythm of individual frames and the alternation of light and shadow. The use of black steel also connects the open-air cinema with the previously reconstructed Prachatice Municipal Theatre. Another material used to a significant extent is stone. Granite paving, sections and gabion walls follow the paved areas of the historical centre of Prachatice. Stone paving is used at the junction with other public spaces, while more natural, “softer” sections are used inside the premises."
